Take 101S across the Golden Gate Bridge. Follow the signs to Marina Blvd. (Exit on the Right). Marina becomes Laguna St. Turn left on Bay St. Slight right on The Embarcadero. Follow this to 2^nd St. and you will see AT&T Park on your left and MoMo’s on your right.	Take I-80W across the Bay Bridge. Take the first San Francisco exit on the right – Fremont St. Stay to the left, when you reach the light, you are forced to turn left. Take your next left, on Harrison, and another immediate left onto 2^nd St. MoMo’s will be on your right as 2^nd St. ends at King St.	Take 101N to 280N. When 280N ends, it will become King St. Follow King St. and take a left onto 2^nd St. MoMo’s is at the corner of King & 2^nd, across from AT&T Park.

Parking: Valet Parking will be available. However, because there will not be a game at the park the night of our event, we are assured that there will be plenty of street parking. The restaurant suggests parking on Townsend St., which is one block north of King St.

For those interested in public transportation, there is a MUNI Metro stop right in front of the restaurant
– just take any Mission Bay (inbound) train!

Third NCLIA Meeting of 2008 Scheduled for Wednesday, September 17

August 19th, 2008

The NCLIA 3rd Quarter Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Fior d’Italia Ristorante located at 2237 Mason Street in San Francisco, CA. The presenter will be Betsy Sears from ExamOne, and her presentation is entitled, “Obesity and Bariatric Surgery.” Betsy Sears is currently the Executive Vice President, Sales Support & Client Services at ExamOne. She has over 22 years of experience in the insurance laboratory environment.

The order of events for Wednesday, September 17, 2008 is as follows:

5:30 - 6:30 p.m.: Cocktail Reception

6:30 - 6:40 p.m.: NCLIA Business

6:40 - 7:15 p.m.: Presentation

7:15 - 9:00 p.m.: Dinner

Attendees will have the opportunity to select one of the following entrees (advise your server):

Chicken Breast with artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, and zucchini in a white wine and chicken stock sauce
Fresh Fish of the Day
Homemade Lasagna

The cost for the event is $50.00 for members, and $55.00 for non-members/guests.

Second Meeting of 2008 Scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2008 in San Rafael, CA at "The Club at McInnis Park"

The NCLIA cordially invites you to attend the quarterly meeting on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at “The Club at McInnis Park” in San Rafael, CA. The Speaker will be Dr. Phillip Fishbacher. His presentation is entitled, “Underwriting Cancer: Present and Future.” Dr. Phil (as he is commonly referred) obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Arizona State University in 1965. In 1969, he finished medical school at the University of California, Irvine. From there, he interned at the USC Medical Center in LA County for one year. From 1970 to 1972, he completed his residency at the VA Hospital in Sepulveda, CA. From 1972 to 1973, and again from 1975 to 1976, he completed his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the VA Hospital. He spent two years (1973 to 1975) as an Internist with the US Army Medical Center in Okinawa, Japan. Starting in 1977, and up until 2004, he practiced medicine in the area of hematology and oncology at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA. Since 2004, Dr. Phil has worked as a part-time Consultant in Insurance Medicine for West Coast Life Insurance Company in San Francisco, CA. We are pleased and honored to welcome Dr. Phil as our Speaker in July!

Our Speaker will be Dr. Paul Quartararo, Medical Director and Co-Head of Medical Underwriting for New York Life Insurance. Dr. Quartararo is involved with the daily operations of a large Medical Department located in New York City. He is also involved in the review of medical cases on a daily basis. His presentation will be “Topics in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Mortality.”

The order of the event is as follows:

NCLIA Business: 6:30 to 6:40 p.m.

Presentation by Dr. Quartararo: 6:40 to 7:10 p.m.
